when should I contact MBCOL?
MBCOL (The Muslim Burial Council of Leicestershire) is an important local charity which ensures funerals can be arranged out of hours, they cover the following situations:
1.Funerals which take place after normal working hours on Monday to Friday
2.Funerals on Sunday and Public Holidays
3.Funerals on Saturdays

Funerals which take place after normal working hours on Monday to Friday
1.The family should contact their local funeral arranger associated with their local Masjid/Organisation.The Funeral Arranger for Masjid Umar is Br. Adam Sabat available on 07801 101 786
2.Provide the funeral arranger with all relevant details regarding the deceased and also inform of any complications
3.If the funeral is likely to take place out of hours the funeral arranger will contact the local MBCOL officer
4.The MBCOL officer will seek verification and issue all necessary documentation needed to proceed with the burial. He will also instruct the staff at Saffron Hill Cemetery to prepare the grave
5.Normal charges will still be raised and an invoice will be sent to the Organisation/Masjid represented by the funeral arranger to be passed onto the family of the deceased.
Funerals on Sunday and Public Holidays
1.The procedure is identical to the above
Funerals on Saturdays
2.Funerals that are due to take place before 10.45am on Saturday will fall under the control of Leicester City Council
3.Funerals required after 10.45 am will follow the procedures as described under Funerals which take place after normal working hours on Monday to Friday
It is imperative that in all instances the funeral takes place at the appointed time without delay. Consistent delays in performing funerals may result in this valuable service being withdrawn.
Please note that during the winter months NO FUNERALS will take place after sunset and during the summer months no later than 7.30 pm.
