Masjid-E-Tabuk

The Evington Muslim Education Trust was established over 19 years ago to provide payer and educational facilities for the local Muslim community living in Evington and Stoneygate. One of the first properties to be acquired for this purpose was on Stoughton Rd; the property was used as both a Masjid and Madressa. The Masjid was named Masjid E Tabuk.

In addition a further two properties were also purchased a short distance away on Evington Drive. These two properties were primarily used as a Madressa. The area steadily attracted a large number of Muslim families and the facilities soon became too small for its purpose. The pictures below gives and idea of how Friday prayers spilled over into the front garden and even the outside pavements! Planning permission was granted to the Evington Muslim Education Trust in November 1999 by the local city council to construct a purpose built Masjid on the site of the Evington Drive premises.
